IIRC the Morris tubes for the .577" and .450" arms were made smooth bored for the first half or so of the bore.

If you buy a .297/230 cadet rifle and spread the cost of the reloading kit across the two rifles, it will only be half as expensive. And you can actually reload .297/230 without dies. Someone here...
